Two birds on a pitcher. Quick sketch of an Edward William Godwin vase, 1877; Ando Hiroshige, small bird on a branch; pitchers (of pitcher)

When we were walking in Alsace in the summer of 2015, I fell in love with a woodcut in the window of a gallery, I think it was in Colmar but it might have been Strasbourg. The artist’s name is Rémi Saillard, and he is principally known for illustrating children’s books. He has a lovely and delicate sense of the surreal. Besides the Wikipedia page linked above he has a website. Rémi, now is the time to ask your forgiveness: I took several photos of your beautiful woodcut and then when I got home, I made my own version of it with white pen on black paper, framed it and hung it where I see it every day. I call it my Rabbit of Mystery, and I love looking at it.
